The clock design in the ILEA collection has caught my attention. The style is Simple plain and original, and that made me curious about how people recorded time in ancient time
I went to the Oxford Science History museum, V&A museum, and The National Gallery to do some research.

Research on the internet, video, and paper.
Sundials and water clocks originated from ancient Egypt, and were later used by the Babylonians, the Greeks, and the Chinese; medieval Islamic water clocks were unrivaled in their sophistication until the mid-14th century. Incense clocks, which may have been invented in India, were being used in China by the 6th century.
