The Art and Science of Ernst Haeckel
Ernst Haeckel is dedicated to finding traces of art and beauty in science. He meticulously depicted and recreated the forms and details of many animals and plants. I was inspired by the delicacy and imagination of these patterns, and many of the shapes are ideally suited to the technique of metal weaving. It also enriched my knowledge of metal weaving as a craft and inspired me to look to nature for inspiration and reference.
