After drawing the "Fallen leaves" sketch, I found some images of similar shapes on Pinterest for inspiration and some experiments. And then, I discover the work of the artist, Gabriele Meyer.
In addition, I do some research on her background and her professional statement.
Gabriele Meyer-Dennewitz (21 July 1922 – 13 March 2011) was a German painter.
She is dedicated to expressing mathematical concepts through the technique of crochet. She said " All of our crochet is mathematical even if we aren’t thinking about that as we’re making it but what’s really neat is that there are certain types of mathematical concepts that haven’t been able to be modelled in any other form other than crochet. "
But when the first time I saw her work, I feel the strong visual impact. Although her work is trying to represent the mathematical concept, I could also feel the nature element. For example, the spiral of that work (image below)seems like some waves in the sea, and some flower blooming shapes. As the Greek aesthetic is called, everything is made up of geometric figures. The colour she chooses is also quite close to the plant. So, every time when I see her work, I feel that is the visual power I want.

I reflected on why the visual effect of her work is so strong:
firstly the curvature of each of her shapes is extremely full and rounded. The constant repetition of this curvature makes the viewer feel inspired.
Secondly, the size of her work is big.
Thirdly, the colours of her work are bright and some of them are very contrasting.
The hanging display way is also a good part that I could learn.

However, I think the large number of curly-shaped pieces can create a sense of visual fatigue in the viewer. But perhaps this is a reflection of continuing his own personal style.
