Paper Bubble test

ysong0420192

Yesterday at home, I did some bubble experiments in order to observe the changes in bubbles

I put the detergent in a container with water and at first, when I shook it by hand, only small bubbles appeared. Then I blew with a straw and some big bubbles appeared.

During this experiment, I got to see more closely how bubbles are made, and how they are structured. Observe the structure of the bubbles and see that they are layer upon layer and that the circles repeat indefinitely. Dense in some places and sparse in others. Size of bubble unit is also changing

Based on the experiment of making bubbles, I have used different ways of drawing to represent the bubbles. By layer upon layer and that the circles repeat indefinitely. Dense in some places and sparse in others, the Size of the unit bubble changes.

In this process, I learned to represent the composition of bubble painting, which I believe will be beneficial for me to make 3d bubble test

I used a soldering iron to burn out holes in the paper based on the bubble painting exercise.

I think this experiment of burning paper is very random and fits in well with my theme of emptiness and impermanence.

In doing this experiment I had learnt that when the soldering iron is set to 300 degrees it is the temperature at which the paper burns fastest without destroying it.

I think this looks more layered and looks more complex in structure. And, the light and shadow of this piece, the shadows change as the light changes.

If I had more time, I would extend this form to make some products, such as lampshades, and containers. Or to work with the same process on different materials, for example, ceramics, wood, metal, plants, etc.

reflective statement :

This is the first time I have used burning paper creatively and I thought it was a good way to respond to my theme of emptiness and impermanence as each one is different, like drawing lines on paper at random, each one is by feel. The pre-bubble making observations and the drawing has helped me a lot in my creation and this can be my methodology.

Whether I use this process during my postgraduate studies or not, I will create it in this way in the future. Like changing different materials to burn holes.
